Memorial Giving

A memorial gift to CHHS Foundation is a thoughtful way to remember and honor someone you love. Altogether, there are a variety of ways to give a gift that keeps on giving. Memorial Giving gifts include bricks, pavers, leaves and branches that are available for purchase and will be installed at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, the lobby of the Haig & Isabel Berbarian Patient Services Center or the Veterans Pavilion located at our Spyres Way campus in Modesto. Your donation helps support the patients, families and programs of CHHS. Additionally, you may consider a gift to have a brick, paver or leaf engraved with your loved one’s name and date as part as your memorial giving.

Honor a loved one or leave a legacy by naming a space within the Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Naming opportunities are a tangible way for CHHS Foundation to recognize the generosity of our donors. Whether creating a legacy or making a donation in honor or memory of a special loved one, CHHS Foundation has an opportunity for all to be a part of our beloved Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Opportunities include:

  • Family Suite

Annual Dedication Celebrations

Angel Garden Brick Dedication

Tucked away in the quiet corner of the backyard at our Alexander Cohen Hospice House stands a beautiful angel statue. A heart made of bricks rests at her feet. This area of the garden honors the children who have touched our lives and the families who entrusted us with their care. CHHS Foundation dedicates these special pediatric bricks and hosts a dedication service each year. This especially allows our families time to honor their children.

Part of memorial giving includes the Veterans Pavilion Celebration in Modesto, CA.

Veterans Pavilion Celebration

Each year on Veterans Day the CHHS Foundation hosts their annual Veterans Pavilion Celebration at the Haig & Isabel Berberian Patient Services Center located in Modesto, CA. Community members gather to remember and recognize the sacrifice of our veterans. During the event we retire the flag that has flown the last year in honor of a special veteran and raise a new flag, paying tribute to a special honoree for their service. Following the ceremony, a small reception is held to honor those who served our country.

Alexander Cohen Hospice House Memorial Brick Dedication

Much like the Angel Garden Dedication, the Alexander Cohen Hospice House backyard hosts our brick pathway under the garden arbor. Our patient families and community members may purchase a brick to install in this area, honoring and memorializing a loved one. The CHHS Foundation offers a time to recognize, celebrate, and share about our loved ones at our Brick Dedication ceremony held in the chapel at the Hospice House.

The Giving Tree sits in the CHHS lobby, displaying the names of those memorialized. Contributing to the Giving Tree is a memorial giving option.

Giving Tree Dedication

The CHHS Giving Tree, designed by artist Jose Caballero, serves as a meaningful symbol of remembrance. Community members contribute by purchasing a leaf or branch to honor their loved one. Each year, community members dedicate several leaves on the beautiful tree in the lobby of the Haig & Isabel Berberian Patient Services Center. This markedly, creates a lasting memorial for loved ones lost or living. The CHHS Foundation honors each individual on the tree through a special dedication service.
