Friends of CHHS
Helping Hands,,,Healing Hearts
In the early years of Community Hospice & Health Services (CHHS), there were patients in need but no means to pay for the necessary care. The question of how to pay for this endeavor was critical. Securing funding was essential to provide care and support for patients and families, as well as to ensure compensation for the clinical staff delivering these services. In 1982, the first president of the Friends auxiliary group, Sue Allen, was asked to create “Friends of Community Hospice & Health Services”. This group became known as “Friends of CHHS” to serve fundraising needs. One year later, there were 40 members who were fundraising ambassadors.
The Friends of CHHS have raised over two million dollars since their founding. This has helped support the compassionate mission of CHHS. They have been instrumental in ensuring CHHS patients and their families receive care when needed most. Through support of events, including Gala, Walk & Roll Fun Run, and Light Up a Life, the Friends of CHHS make their efforts known.
